“Charlotte Party Rentals opened its doors in 2007 with just 10 inflatable bounce houses. The inspiration? A desire for entrepreneurship, a nudge from an unexpected layoff, and a trip to the IAAPA trade show. Along with my cousin who ran an event company, we decided to embark on our very own venture. This is how Party Time Events was born in Charlotte, NC.
Starting small with a used truck and garage storage, we weathered the Great Recession. However, perseverance and a growing economy helped us expand, with backyard inflatables forming our core business alongside catering to schools and churches.
Recognizing the potential of tents, we expanded our offerings in 2009, finding they perfectly complemented our inflatables. A short-lived joint venture in 2011 led to a friendly competitor, and in 2012, we went solo, growing to two delivery crews with a diverse inventory.”
“After four years of full-time dedication, I decided to take a step back and transition the business to part-time, focusing on profitable, larger jobs. Recognizing the weekday potential of tents and client needs for event essentials, we strategically invested in larger tents and equipment. By late 2019, our offerings were around 60% inflatables and 40% tents and related equipment.
Right before the arrival of our precious daughter, Via, I made the call to jump back into the business full-time. Spring 2020 threw a curveball: a pivot to ‘COVID tents’ landed us major contracts, doubling our business and shifting our focus to tents and related equipment (95% of the offerings). Growth continued in 2021, and by winter 2023, we said goodbye to inflatables and, thanks to a grant, invested in a state-of-the-art tent washer. Now, we focus on providing our clients with the cleanest tents possible for their memorable events.”
